I got up SUPER early this morning in hopes to meet with Jesus before babe woke up. Five minutes into my coffee, I hear whimpering from the nursery. Ten minutes into my quiet time, he's yelling at me from his play yard. Whatever. It's fine.

This begs the question: how do moms realistically seek Jesus when babies are needing us constantly? I'm talking practically, y'all.
Here are my five steps to seeking Jesus as a busy momma
1. Create a space of peace
For me, this just means an area that's decently cleaned up. It's as simple as picking up my living room before bed. A lack of clutter helps reduce my anxiety and distractions. For others, this can mean walking your babies through the neighborhood or using a commute to work or small group as a dedicated time of prayer.
2. Establish a routine
My quiet time is usually sweet and intimate, so I've created a routine that prepares my heart walking into it. I dim the lights in our living room, brew some coffee and light my most favorite candle ever. It's French cade and lavender and makes me feel ultra-chic. Seriously it's the best and you can get your own HERE.
3. Have your essential tools for focused prayer time, (but don't rely on them)
I love, no, adore my prayer journal, but it's just an outline.
I try not to dedicate the entire time to writing because I find I grow closer to Him when I'm talking to Him.
You can snag my prayer journal HERE. I love Val Marie Paper Co because her journals are an outline to guide your prayer time consisting of over-arching categories and bullet point thoughts.
4. Pray out loud
This helps keep my mind from wandering. You know what I'm talking about, thoughts like: "I need to wash my hair." Which, by the way, I really really do. Just one of those weeks. I understand that this can be uncomfortable for some. I recommend cranking some music just loud enough that it doesn't feel as if you're talking to yourself. Here's my favorite Spotify playlist for my prayer time.
5. Have grace with your babe
This morning, Hosea screamed and babbled my entire prayer time. Don't allow a discontent babe to uproot your spirit.
Consider it a great opportunity to demonstrate, even at this tiny age, what it looks like to be totally in love with Jesus.
Keep rocking along and maintain your mindset the best you can. I looked over and noticed Zay raising his hand during a worship song *sobs*. He's at the age where he mimics everything we do.
Sister, I see you. I'm on my knees next to you. I'm rolling my eyes at my child while simultaneously asking Jesus to bless him right alongside you. Connect with me via social media (instagram: lydmothersyoung) so we can walk through this season together.
